Motorcycle Tire Changing: Finding the Right Fit

Choosing the right motorcycle tire can feel overwhelming, but our goal is to simplify it. Every rider’s situation is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why our motorcycle tire change service starts by asking the right questions. By understanding your riding style, budget, and current tire setup, we’ll help you land on a tire option that strikes the perfect balance between price, performance, and longevity. We generally prefer matching tire sets for optimal handling, but we’ll work with whatever suits you best—whether you’re looking for an affordable option, a longer-lasting setup, or maximum grip.

Questions We Typically Ask

  • Are we changing one or both tires?
If we’re only replacing one, we want to know the condition and brand of the other.

  • How much life is left on the existing tires, and are we matching?
Fronts usually last longer than rears, but matching sets often deliver the best handling.

  • How did you like the current tires?
If you found a set you love, there’s usually no reason to switch—unless you want to try something new.

  • What’s your price range or priority?
Are you looking for the cheapest option, maximum mileage, or top-tier grip?

  • How many miles do you ride per year?
This helps us gauge whether you need a longer-wearing tire or a more specialized compound.

  • What’s most important to you: price, longevity, or grip?
Sometimes a higher-priced tire lasts longer, making it more cost-effective in the long run.

Tire Options by Bike Type

We divide our motorcycle tire recommendations into three main categories: cruiser, sport, and adventure. Each style has unique demands for mileage, traction, and cost. Below are general guidelines to help you decide which direction might be best. The prices below are a general starting point. Actual costs may change throughout the year, and factors like tire size, disposal fees, tubes, or valve stems can increase the final price. Cruiser Bikes

For cruiser riders, we focus on how many miles you rack up each season. If you ride just a few thousand miles a year, a more affordable tire may be your best bet—your tire could age out before it ever wears out. That said, cruiser tires typically last anywhere from 8,000 to 15,000 miles in some cases less, depending on how heavy-handed you are with the throttle. If you’re more of a weekend warrior, a lower-mileage (and lower-cost) option might be all you need.

Small Cruiser Motorcycle

Sport Bikes

On sport bikes, tires usually wear out quicker—especially if you’re an aggressive rider or hitting track days. If you go for a sport-touring tire, you’ll gain mileage at the expense of grip. Spend more, and you’re likely to get multi-compound tires that blend durability with cornering traction. Usually, I’ll ask about your riding style—whether it’s daily commuting, spirited canyon carving, or occasional track sessions—to hone in on the ideal choice. Most riders find they don’t need top-tier race tires for everyday riding, saving money and potentially extending tire life.

Sport Bike

Just Wheel Install
(2) Tires and Install $267

Adventure Bikes

Adventure tires are the trickiest to recommend because every rider splits time differently between pavement and dirt. You’ll also notice ADV tires can be pricier than many cruiser or sport options. If you’re not certain how much off-road riding you’ll do, starting with a cheaper dual-sport set might be safest—this way, if you discover you’re mostly sticking to street riding, you won’t have blown a bunch of cash on aggressive off-road tires that wear too quickly on pavement.
